Dieter Grutzner
Mitsi Patel
Gothum Kandavelu
Evan Huyerman
Gopi Desai
James Somers
Jason Custance
Dave Jones
The sky was cloudy but bright. The strip had a slight damp feel to it. It was a good toss for James to lose.
Evan and Jason opened the bowling, but disaster was to strike early on with Dave Jones (wkt) receiving a blow to this left eyebrow area which resulted in him having to go to hospital. So with St Lukes down to 10 men and Gothum going behind the stumps the game resumed. It didn't take long for the wickets to start falling, Jason got one to swing from outside leg stump to bowl the player behind his legs, Evan had 2 wickets smartly caught low down by Gothum. By the 20th over Kempton were 7 down for 55 runs. Jason taking 3 for 10 runs and Evan 4 for 33 runs. Kempton started to dig in and slowly added to their score. Gopi was able to bowl the last 3 Kempton batsmen, with the score finishing on 90. The only other downside apart from Dave was the top score of 37 extras.
After a fine tea, the game resumed.
As always seems to be the case, St Lukes struggled to knock off the runs, with Robin, Richard and Dieter all falling quickly (21/3). In came Mitsi who had been in good form so far this season. Mitsi started to get the score board moving with Jothann playing a defensive role the other end protecting his wicket. When Mitsi was out for 43 it looked like St lukes were home but we then lost further quick wickets with Jothann (6) and Gothum (0) falling. It was then left for Gopi (12no) and Evan (9no) to complete the win.
So a second win on the trot for the 2nd team, but with losing 4 of winning 11 for next weeks game it could be hard to make it 3 in a row.
Just in case anyone is reading this, Dave Jones returned near the end of the game with 4 stitches and a swollen blackening eye. Get well soon.
Man of match: Mitsi Patel
