Due to the late arrival of the opponents, Osterley forfeited the toss and also 8 overs.
Put in to bat Osterley were soon in trouble. In the second over Dessie had their skipper and best batsmen caught at slip by Tim B and St Lukes continued to pressure a weakened Osterley side. With the accuracy of Dessie, and Jason swinging the ball, the pair gradually reduced Osterley to 50 for 7. However, an eighth wicket partnership (99), led by Harmeet (64), salvaged some pride and managed to get Osterley a competitive score of 156-9 at the close of their innings.
Dessie took 4 wickets for 31 runs and Jason 4 for 28.
In reply St Lukes started steadily and passed the 50 mark untroubled. Eventually Tim H (25) was out with 85 on the scoreboard and he was quickly followd by Dessie. Ed was solid at one end and just reached his 50 before being caught low down at backward point. He had steered St Lukes to 101-3 and in sight of the winning post although overs were beginning to run out. Several players came and went without scoring much but Tim C stuck around with a dogged 17 not out, and with a typical canny innings of 4 not out from Tim B (still not out in leahue cricket this season), plus a contribution of 42 from Mr Extras, St Lukes reached their target with 3 wickets and a couple overs to spare.
Man of the Match - Dessie Heynes (captains pick)
