Surrey Cricket League

There has been a change of sponsorship.  AJ Sports will be the sponsors for the next three years.  They have a retail outlet behind Wimbledon Stadium dog track (number 72 Rosemary Road, SW17 0BA) and give a 10% discount to members of the League.  Just produce a copy of either the League handbook or the club fixtures card.

Two important rule changes.  Bowlers are now limited to a maximum of 10 overs; and when matches are weather affected, 15 overs per hour are lost.

Another change for those who play in the Twenty20 cup game(s) – any ball bowled which passes legside of the batsman and passes legside of the stumps is a WIDE no matter how close it passes the wicket.  Normal wides interpretation applies to the league games.

New Players

Would all players help in looking for new players to strengthen the squads for league games.  If you can, put up notices where you work or an ad in the local shop for a week or two.  We can now take up to 18 players at nets so encourage anyone who is interested to come along to nets for a try out.

Sunday Games

The AGM proposed that about 6 Sunday games were arranged between mid-May and the end of July.  Please support these matches which will mean in some most cases playing twice at the weekend.
