The season is now up and running but what a horrible first game we had to endure. The below may hopefully become a regular occurrence and a bit of fun (I apologies for this weeks effort), with maybe more input from you all rather than my opinions. Will try and get a couple of awards sorted from now on in. Anyway…..

The Match:

Well played everyone. I believe that we showed really good commitment in horrible and difficult conditions. We gave ourselves a target to defend and we backed it up with really solid fielding – we took some great catches in the hardest of conditions and supported this with good ground fielfing and this is extends to Charlie who did superbly in the mud and rain. Finally Hemant, Karl, TB and Fawad did brilliantly to produce a disciplined bowling display – an unenviable task.

Shot of the day:

Fawad – his effortless flick off his legs into someone’s garden, this is after being told the ball before to get his head down. (I would have said me but I’m not like Robin!)

Catch of the day:

Michael – a flyer and an important wicket off TB’s  bowling. Joe’s and Hemant’s efforts also are well deserving of a mention.

Ball of the day:

Hemant – the ball the cut 2 feet up the slope after everyone had been getting it to do the same down the hill most of the day.

Female Icon of the day:

Blushes to be spared this week – to commence next week

Man of the Match:

Karl – chipped in with a useful 20odd, took 3or4 weeks and ‘that’ run out!

Lessons Learnt:

1) There are rewards for concentration and commitment in the field.

2) Batting – put simply and to generalise from Saturday and last season but we need to be making it harder for the opposition to take our wickets. As individuals we need to not give our wickets away cheaply and to graft a little more for our runs; remember we’re playing on uncovered tracks.

At the back of your minds you must remember you’ll get a run scoring ball once or twice an over. Wait for it.
