On a bright and sunny day, one of the few of the current league season, St Lukes were looking for another win. At 13.25 Addington still hadn't turned up, then on mass they arrived.
Ed won the toss and decided to field first. Karl and Jason opened the bowling first and both started well with the runs coming slowly. The outfield was very slow (due to excess rain) and the grass was far too long, this helped to keep the runs down throughout the innings.Karl picked up a wicket in his first spell and Jason bowled through his 10 overs, picking up 1 wicket for 27 runs. Evan took a excellent catch running backwards and up hill (you had to see it) Dessie also finished with the same figures as Jason and was unlucky not to take more wickets. Evan came on and bowled a fantasic spell taking 3 wickets for 12 runs, Dougs also chipped in taking 1 wicket. Karl finished of Addington with nearly 5 overs left. It was a good all round team performance in the filed. Charlie as usually was in the right place to take 2 catches to add to his every increasing total amd Richard picked up 1.
St Lukes knew they would have to bat well to get the modest total of 132
Karl started well hitting 3 fours before falling, he was followed by Richard without any runs being added to the total (21) Things didn't get much better with only Jothann and Jason getting into double figures and the team fell 3 runs short of an extra bonus point all out for 87. Yet again Tim Blatt was not out.
Lets hope we can improve the batting next week?
Man of the Match - Jason Custance (only because he scored the most runs)
