The weathermen promised nice weather but it was overcast and not very warm, quite a few players were caught out not having their jumpers.
After having 5 players drop out of the side midweek St Lukes could only manage to field a side of 10 and we were playing Burgh Heath who over recent years had a very good win record against us, they also had 10.
I'm not sure who won the toss but Burgh Heath batted first.
Bob opened the bowling first with Jason the other end. Jason took a wicket with his first ball and had another player given out caught behind by the umpire, the player started to walk, he was very unhappy due to "the ball come of my hip umpire". St Lukes were happy to give the player another chance as it was a friendly. No more wickets fell but Bob and Jason kept the runs to about 3 an over with the batmen taking quite a few quick singles (mainly to Robin)
Next up was Dusty who once switching to right arm around the wicket started to trouble the batsmen with ball swinging away from the righthander, he finished with 4 wickets for 37 runs, ripping the heart out of the oppenants (batsmen 2,3,4 & 5). Hemant took 3 very smart catches behind the stumps. Burgh Heath then put on a late partnership to carry there score to 138-8. Mitsi (1 wicket) & Robin also bowled 11 overs between them only going for 2 runs an over. Richard Somers also came on for a rare bowl and was delighted to knock back the stumps for his 1 wicket for 14 runs. Hement also took a wicket.
Richard and Hement went about building a partnership and when Richard reached his 50 a unlikely win was on the cards, usually you know what comes next lose a few wicket etc etc BUT that didn't happen Richard and Hement took there partnership on to a unbeaten 113 the rest is history.
Man of the match – Richard Somers for his wicket and match winning innings
