Although the club had 2 friendly matches arranged last Saturday,we were only able to find 11 players so the 1st team fixture with Sheen was undertaken (played with 8 second team players) A beautiful sunny afternoon saw Sheen in this 40 over match bat first. They started fairly slowly with St. Lukes opening attack of Karl and Dusty bowling nice and tight. New comer Raj then came on and took a wicket with his first ball for the club.Later on James came on and took 2 wickets, bowling their opening bat who scored 52. In the last few over's things got a bit away from St.Lukes with Sheens New Zealander hitting a quick powerful 45. The home sides innings closed on 223 for 7. Starting slowly the two St.Lukes openers saw off the opening Sheen bowlers before Charlie came in and started to look impressive for the first match of the season. A few mid order batsmen joined Charlie, had some time at the crease without scoring too many runs. However Charlie was joined by Shoks and the St.Lukes score climbed above 150. Both were out on 44 and the final St.Lukes score was 169 all out.
