Whyteleafe ‘V’ St Lukes -League 45 Overs                                    Saturday 31st May

Report by Jason Custance

After Michael's report last year saying lets not get in the same situ again, there we were nearly a year later in the exactly the same situ, with 5 possible 1st team players missing. We were playing the same side at the same ground and as luck would have it yet again the 2nd's only had a friendly game.

The game didn't start well as Ed lost his first toss of the season, with the end result of St Lukes put in to bat.

We struggled throughout the game with the slow out field and loss of wickets at regular intervals. We were 54 for 4 when Tim Craig came to the crease and a battling 35 not out gave us a fighting chance. We finshed on 131.

St Lukes started well bowling some tidy overs and keeping the run rate low. Annal was dropped by Tim Blatt (same last year) trying to take a very hard diving chance to his right (he ended up being not out, same as last year). Jason struck when the score was on 23 and St Lukes thought that may be the break through that was needed, but in came Asa Curtis who after playing and missing a few times started to smack us all round the park, hitting a unbeaten 74 from 54 balls with the Annal 44 not out. The only thing that wasn't the same as last year was that St Lukes lost.
