Balham & Tooting vs St Lukes
8th May 2010
St Lukes got of to a good start in the
2010 season by winning their first game of the season.
The side was Karl
Quinn, Jono Watkins, James Somers,
Charlie Hillman, Chris
Hillman, Richard Bent, Adeel Hashmi,
Imran Muhammad,
Tom Rimmer, Tim Blatt and Jason
Custance.
The side changed
slightly
on the day because Chris [Karl’s mate] didn’t arrive till tea. A grand day out
for Chris coming all the way from east
London by train and then he wasn’t
allowed to play. So luckily Chris [Charlie’s
son] had come with him to watch the game and Chris always carries his whites in
his bag. Chris was ready to start reading his Secret Seven book when Karl ran
over and told him to change into his whites. St Lukes were fielding first.
Tim
Blatt took four wickets, Jono Watkins and Jason both took two, Adeel Hashmi
took one and Imran
Muhhamad did a super throw to Richard
Bent and Richard did
a fantastic throw to the bowler’s
stumps and it was bang on the stumps.
James Somers took two good catches and he
almost got a third. Balham & Tooting finished on one hundred
and
thirty-seven runs after about twenty minutes of working out the scores both
sides agreed on that.
St Lukes had a good day for fielding.
Karl Quinn and James Somers opened the
batting well. Karl hit a massive six and when Tim Blatt went to look he was
almost on the A3. Charlie Hillman got the most runs with thirty nine. St Lukes overcame their score with about twelve overs
to go. The only disappointment was at
the end when the showers weren’t working.
My man of the match goes to Tim
Blatt.

play St Lukes 1XI league cricket]
